Assam Government reviews flood mitigation framework for Guwahati
Guwahati, July 5 -- Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai on Sunday directed consultants to revise the GIS-based Comprehensive Drainage Master Plan and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Bahini-Bharalu Basin, as the state government reviewed measures to tackle Guwahati's recurring waterlogging and urban flooding.
The direction came during a high-level review meeting held at Janata Bhawan to assess the proposed interventions for strengthening the city's stormwater drainage system.
Officials and technical experts reviewed the recommendations in the Comprehensive Drainage Master Plan and the DPR, focusing on the feasibility, sustainability and long-term effectiveness of the proposed measures.
