Assam flood toll rises to 97 as over 1.68 lakh people remain affected across 15 districts
Guwahati, Aug. 7 -- Assam's flood-related death toll has increased to 97, although the overall flood situation has continued to improve gradually, according to the latest flood bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Thursday, August 6.
Despite receding floodwaters in several areas, 15 districts, 39 revenue circles and 481 villages remain affected. The Dhansiri (South) River at Numaligarh is still flowing above the danger level, while no river has crossed its highest flood level, the bulletin said.
The affected districts are Golaghat, Sivasagar, Udalguri, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Nagaon, Darrang, Sonitpur, Hojai, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Jorhat, Charaideo, Karbi Anglong and Dhemaji.
