Guwahati, April 10 -- Assam has recorded a significant milestone in its democratic journey, with the 2026 Assembly elections witnessing both a record voter turnout and a notable rise in women's participation, which has surpassed that of men.
Official data shows that overall voter turnout reached 85.91 per cent-among the highest in the state's electoral history. In a striking trend, female voter turnout stood at 86.50 per cent, exceeding male participation, which was recorded at 85.33 per cent.
