India, April 5 -- Tension prevailed in Boko town on Sunday after a group of students staged a protest seeking justice for Assam's music icon Zubeen Garg, prompting a swift response from the administration.
According to officials, the demonstrators were intercepted by police and district authorities while attempting to march along the main highway. The move, they said, was a precautionary measure to maintain law and order, particularly in view of a scheduled election rally by the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the area.
Security personnel were deployed in large numbers to prevent the protesters from advancing towards the rally venue, and barricades were put in place to control movement.
