Dibrugarh, April 9 -- Union Minister and former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday expressed confidence that the BJP-led NDA would secure close to 100 of the 126 seats in the Assembly elections, after casting his vote in Dibrugarh.
Speaking to reporters outside the polling station, Sonowal said the steady voter turnout despite rain and inclement weather reflected strong public support for the ruling alliance. "The people want the BJP-led NDA government in Assam again. Only then will peace and progress continue in the state," he said.
He attributed the enthusiasm among voters to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said development initiatives of the central government had benefited people across the state....
