Guwahati, April 23 -- The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC)has formed seven special monitoring teams to supervise the counting of votes for the recently held assembly elections, with the process set for May 4.
Party sources said the move is intended to improve on-ground supervision and ensure that the counting process is closely tracked at every stage.
In a statement issued by APCC general secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh along with state president Gaurav Gogoi, it was stated that these teams will be deployed in all constituencies that went to polls on April 9.
The state recorded a voter turnout of 85.96 percent, which is among the highest in recent years.
