Guwahati, May 4 -- Almost all major Opposition leaders in Assam, including Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi, Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Jagadish Bhuyan, and Rajen Gohain, were trailing in their respective constituencies, according to data released by the Election Commission of India on Monday (May 4, 2026).

Congress president Gaurav Gogoi was trailing by 19,626 votes in the Jorhat Assembly constituency. He secured 43,882 votes, while his BJP opponent Hitendra Nath Goswami polled 63,508 votes.
