North Lakhimpur: The ruling BJP alliance (BJP+) registered a dominant performance in Assam's Lakhimpur district, winning all but one Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) as counting of votes concluded on Monday.
The Indian National Congress (INC) managed to secure a lone victory in Nowboicha, preventing a complete sweep by the BJP-led alliance.
Two incumbent BJP legislators from the district retained their seats with comfortable margins. In 76 Lakhimpur LAC, sitting MLA Manab Deka defeated Congress candidate Ghana Buragohain by a margin of 25,656 votes. Deka secured 67,186 votes, while Buragohain polled 42,530.
