Bajali, July 22 -- A young entrepreneur from Assam's Bajali district has expanded his poultry business by introducing 5,000 Sonali layer birds for commercial egg production, citing Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's recent appeal to make the state self-reliant in egg production as a source of inspiration.

Shourav Jyoti Das, a resident of Patacharkuchi, started his poultry farming venture three years ago and has gradually expanded the business through commercial farming.

The latest expansion is expected to increase egg production while contributing to local employment and reducing Assam's dependence on eggs sourced from outside the state.
