Guwahati, Aug. 13 -- The Assam Christian Forum has welcomed the decision of the Government of India to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed examination.

In a statement, the Forum said the decision would allow wider consultation and discussion on the proposed legislation.

The Forum said the move reflected the government's willingness to consider concerns raised by NGOs, minority communities and other civil society groups. It said it looked forward to engaging with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the JPC during the examination of the Bill.
