Assam Cabinet mandates registration of sale agreements, PoAs to curb fraud
Guwahati, July 26 -- The Assam Cabinet on Saturday cleared reforms to the state's registration framework, making several additional property-related documents mandatory for registration.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the updated framework will introduce virtual and faceless registration facilities, revise the classification of documents and expand the scope of mandatory registration.
The new rules will require registration of documents including agreements for sale, development agreements, property-related powers of attorney, short-term leases, equitable mortgages, sale certificates, bank guarantees, property transfers linked to mergers or demergers and partnership agreements involving immovable property.
