Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the state's Council of Ministers will be expanded on June 5, 2026, putting an end to growing speculation over a reshuffle in the newly formed NDA government.

In a post on X, Sarma confirmed the date, stating, "I am pleased to inform that the Council of Ministers of the Government of Assam will be expanded on 5 June 2026."

The expansion comes less than a month after Sarma began his second consecutive term as Chief Minister following the NDA's decisive win in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. Earlier, he had indicated that the cabinet expansion would be undertaken after the Assembly session and within the first week of June.
