Guwahati: In a significant relief for government employees and pensioners, the Assam Cabinet has approved a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), raising the existing rate from 58 per cent to 60 per cent.

Announcing the decision on Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the enhanced allowance will take effect from July and will benefit more than eight lakh serving employees and retired personnel across the state.
