Assam Budget 2026: Rs 1,750 crore earmarked for universities, colleges
Guwahati, July 10 -- The Assam government on Friday proposed an investment of Rs 1,750 crore to strengthen higher education, with major allocations for state universities, financial support for autonomous colleges, expansion of the Guru Dakshina scheme, and continuation of the provincialisation of eligible venture colleges.
Presenting the Assam Budget 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly, Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah outlined a series of measures aimed at strengthening higher education institutions across the state.
