Guwahati, Aug. 25 -- Authorities will introduce a new traffic management system in Guwahati's Fancy Bazar from September 1, including a ban on street vending along MS Road and HB Road to ease congestion and improve pedestrian movement.

The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai at the Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner's office, where officials discussed measures to regulate traffic, parking and vending across SS Road, MS Road and HB Road.

Under the new arrangement, commercial vehicles will be permitted on the three roads only between 9 pm and 7 am. Public vehicle parking will also be allowed, while handcarts and pushcarts will continue to operate.
