Doomdooma, Sept. 10 -- A wild elephant was spotted with a large tyre tightly lodged around its neck in Assam's Golaghat district on Thursday, prompting concern among residents and wildlife watchers over the animal's safety.

The elephant was seen moving through the Marangi-Bakiyal area, where the tyre could potentially restrict its movement and cause injuries if it remains trapped for an extended period.

Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia said he had contacted the Forest Department and discussed arrangements to safely remove the tyre from the animal. He also urged people in the area to remain calm and avoid approaching or disturbing the elephant.
