Guwahati, Sept. 3 -- Two police personnel were killed in a shooting at the Gamerimura Police Outpost in Assam's Kamrup district on Thursday, with another policeman allegedly opening fire, officials said.

The incident was reported between 4 am and 5 am at the outpost under Boko Police Station on the Assam-Meghalaya border. Both personnel were hit by rounds fired from an AK-type service rifle and later died.

The deceased have been identified as Fazrul Ali and Indrajit Bora. Bora was in charge of the Gamerimura outpost, while Ali served as a Havildar.

Police constable Chiranjib Choudhury, who is attached to the 29th Assam Police Battalion, has been accused of opening fire.
