North Lakhimpur: Three members of a family were killed and another person was critically injured after a lightning strike at Debera Doloni in Rangsali village on the southwestern outskirts of Assam's North Lakhimpur town on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Soul Horo, Jackson Karketta, and Jayanti Toppo.

According to reports, Soul Horo and Jackson Karketta were working in their paddy field when Jayanti Toppo arrived with lunch around 1:30 pm.

The trio was struck by lightning during the sudden weather event and died on the spot.

Another person sustained critical injuries in the incident.
