Assam: Tea worker dies of alleged medical negligence at Tinsukia's Rupai Tea Estate
Doomdooma, Sept. 12 -- A tea factory worker died on Friday afternoon at Rupai Tea Estate in Assam's Tinsukia district, with allegations of medical negligence.
The incident has raised concerns about the health facilities available in Assam's tea gardens.
Bijoy Kharia, an ad-hoc worker aged around 30, reportedly fell unconscious while on duty in the factory division of Rupai Tea Estate.
He later died, allegedly due to the non-availability of an ambulance and inadequate medical facilities at the garden hospital, which is around 15 km from the Doomdooma First Referral Unit (FRU).
