Guwahati, July 16 -- Eight people were stranded after the water level of a river rose suddenly at the Longsokangthu picnic spot in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday, triggering panic among visitors.

According to reports, the group was in the middle of the river when the water level increased rapidly, turning the stream into a fast-flowing current and cutting off their route to safety.

A video of the incident has since surfaced on social media, showing the stranded individuals surrounded by rising water as the current intensified.
