Assam: Study documents 96 wild edible plant species used by communities in Tinsukia
Doomdooma, Oct. 1 -- A recent scientific study has documented the diversity of wild edible plants in Assam's Tinsukia district, recording 96 species that are used by local communities as food and for traditional purposes.
Published in Plant Science Today in 2025, the study, titled "Diversity of wild edible plants, nutrition and phytochemical evaluation of certain plants with ethnobotanical importance from Tinsukia district, Assam, India," was based on field research carried out between 2021 and 2023.
