North Lakhimpur, April 26 -- A storm lashed Assam's Lakhimpur district on Saturday morning, leaving a trail of destruction across the area. The storm hit around 8 am, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain.
The intensity of the storm was so high that many rooftops were blown away, damaging several houses. In almost every part of the district, trees were uprooted and knocked to the ground. In several places, the fallen trees damaged houses and parked vehicles.
A major tragedy was averted when a passenger bus travelling from North Lakhimpur to Guwahati skidded off the road while trying to avoid a falling tree.
