Guwahati: An assistant to an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer posted at the Assam Secretariat was found dead at a residence in Guwahati's Hatigaon area on Monday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Biswajit Buragohain, a resident of Sivasagar district.

His body was recovered from House No. 3 at Sewali Path in Hatigaon. Preliminary information suggests that he may have died nearly two days before the body was discovered.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.

The body was later sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
