Assam: Rupamoni Gorh becomes first Assamese woman to scale Mount Everest

Guwahati: In a historic milestone for both Assam and the country, Rupamoni Gorh from Lakhimpur has become the first woman from Assam to scale Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain.
She accomplished the feat as a member of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) All-Women Everest Expedition 2026, a special mission aimed at showcasing women's growing presence and excellence in mountaineering and extreme adventure sports.
