Doomdooma, Sept. 25 -- The Majuli district administration and Transport Department conducted a road-safety awareness drive at schools and public locations on Thursday, focusing on students amid Assam's continuing road accident concerns.

The special Road Safety Awareness Programme, held on September 24, involved officials from the Transport and Police departments who explained basic traffic rules and the consequences of violations.

Students were sensitised to the importance of properly wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers, using seat belts in four-wheelers, avoiding mobile-phone use while driving and not operating vehicles before attaining 18 years of age, the district administration said.
