Assam: Rising Golden Langur deaths along Bismuri-Saralpara road trigger conservation concerns

Guwahati: Conservationists and residents have raised alarm after repeated road accidents led to the deaths of endangered Golden Langurs along the Bismuri-Saralpara stretch inside Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park in Kokrajhar and Chirang, where ongoing road widening by the PWD is believed to be disrupting canopy movement routes.
Local groups say at least two langurs have been killed in the past month, as the removal of roadside trees has forced the arboreal primates to descend to the ground more often, increasing their exposure to traffic.
