Guwahati: Assam has recorded the first confirmed sighting of the bent-toed gecko species Cyrtodactylus bapme at Urpad Beel, adding a new entry to the state's growing biodiversity catalogue.

The finding is being viewed as a major boost for wildlife documentation in Assam and underscores the ecological richness of the state's wetlands and forested landscapes, which continue to shelter several rare and little-known species.
