Assam: Protests erupt in Makum after assault victim succumbs to injuries

Doomdooma: Tension gripped Makum in Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday as thousands of people staged protests and blocked NH37 at Gangabari after a man allegedly assaulted earlier this month died during treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh.
The deceased, identified as Mukut Orang (45), a resident of Gangabari Gate Line, succumbed to his injuries days after he was allegedly assaulted on June 11.
According to reports, Orang was allegedly attacked by Mohammed Imran Siddiqui, proprietor of the restaurant Urban Tasty and a resident of Purana Bazar in Borhapjan.
