Guwahati, July 13 -- Over 15.43 lakh people are currently enrolled as active job seekers in Assam, the state government informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Replying to a starred question raised by MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed, Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Minister Prasanta Phukan said the Directorate of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship had 15,43,350 active registrations as of June 30, 2026.

He also informed the House that the department had recorded 15,82,987 registered job seekers on March 31, 2016, and has continued to maintain annual registration data since then.

Figures presented in the Assembly showed that 11,53,971 job seekers were registered in 2022, when the department processed 10,34,613 fresh applications.
