North Lakhimpur, April 22 -- A woman was killed and two others were injured after lightning struck a house in Assam's Lakhimpur district on Tuesday evening amid heavy rain and storm.

The incident occurred around 8 pm at Bhoroluwa village in the Nowboicha area when a lightning strike hit a residential house during inclement weather.

The deceased has been identified as Samina Khatun, 27. Two other family members - Hanufa Khatun, 47, and Saqiba Khatun, 6, sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The injured were rushed to Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
