North Lakhimpur: A passenger was killed when a sleeper bus travelling from Guwahati to Kamalabari in Assam's Majuli met with an accident in Lakhimpur's Nowboicha area early on Friday morning.

The mishap occurred on NH-15 near the Singra Bridge at Dolahat Tiniali under Laluk Police Station when the bus (AR 01 W 1144) overturned around 4 a.m.

Most passengers were asleep at the time of the accident. More than 50 passengers were injured, several of whom are reported to be in critical condition.

The deceased has been identified as Deep Jyoti Bora of Pohardiya village in Majuli.
