Guwahati, April 24 -- The National Institute of Technology Silchar has issued a directive prohibiting hostel boarders, mess workers and others associated with hostel facilities from conducting or participating in prayers or religious gatherings in open and common areas within the campus.
The order, issued by the Office of the Dean of Students' Welfare, came into effect immediately after approval from the competent authority, according to an official notification dated April 24.
The institute stated that no individual residing in or linked to hostel facilities shall organise or take part in prayer meetings, religious assemblies or similar activities in shared spaces inside hostels or elsewhere on campus.
