Guwahati, April 20 -- The Nagaon Sessions Court on April 20, Monday, delivered its judgment in the Abhi-Neel mob lynching case, finding 20 of the 45 accused guilty, while 25 others were cleared due to insufficient evidence.

The court has scheduled April 24 to decide the sentences for those convicted.

The case involves the killing of Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das, who were attacked by a mob at Dokmoka in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on June 8, 2018, after being wrongly suspected of being child lifters. Three juveniles were also part of the group involved in the incident.

The brutal attack had drawn nationwide outrage, leading to the arrest of 48 individuals, including the minors, by Assam Police soon after the incident.
