Assam: Man dies after being hit by train in Tinsukia
Doomdooma, Oct. 2 -- A 28-year-old man allegedly engrossed in a mobile phone conversation while crossing a railway track died after coming in contact with a moving train near Navapukhuri Railway Gate in Assam's Tinsukia town on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rohit Sharma. The incident occurred at around 11 am under the Tinsukia Railway Division, where shunting operations were underway at the time.
"The driver observed him and gave a horn, but as he was talking on the mobile phone, it went unheard. An emergency brake was then applied, but unfortunately he came in contact with the train and the incident occurred," R.K. Yadav, Officer-in-Charge of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), told Northeast Now.
