Dibrugarh, April 12 -- The carcass of an adult leopard was recovered from Koimari Chamua Gaon under the Khowang forest range in Assam's Dibrugarh on Sunday morning.
It is suspected that the leopard may have been poisoned.
A forest team from Khowang reached the spot and took the carcass for post-mortem.
"We have found the carcass of an adult leopard at Chamua Gaon. After the post-mortem, we will be able to say how the leopard died," said Khowang forest ranger Akshay Burgohain.
Human-leopard conflict has been rising rapidly in Upper Assam due to the shrinking of forest cover, and leopards are often seen venturing into human habitation in search of food, resulting in conflict.
