Doomdooma: Forest officials captured a leopard that had been terrorising Raidang Tea Estate at Hansara in upper Assam's Tinsukia district on Friday, bringing relief to anxious tea workers.
The leopard 's repeated appearances in the plantation created panic, forcing many labourers to skip work or move in groups.
"We were terrified. It was spotted near the labour quarters early in the morning. Women pluckers refused to enter the sections," said Rina Orang, a senior tea worker.
Acting on urgent information, the forest department installed multiple cages across the estate.
The leopard was trapped in the afternoon, medically examined, and later released into a nearby dense forest.
