Assam: Lakhimpur Police arrest 90-year-old POCSO accused after eight years
North Lakhimpur, Aug. 22 -- Lakhimpur Police have arrested a 90-year-old man accused in a POCSO case after an eight-year search, bringing an end to his prolonged period on the run.
The accused, identified as Abdul Matlib, was arrested from his residence in No. 1 Ahmedpur village under the Bangalmora Police Outpost. Police reportedly caught him after he returned home to meet his family from his hideout.
Matlib was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, in 2018 in connection with a case involving the alleged molestation of a minor.
He was 82 years old when the case was registered and had remained absconding since then, allegedly evading arrest for nearly eight years.
