India, March 24 -- In a significant step towards consolidating peace in Assam, Kuki Suspension of Operations (SoO) groups have announced the dissolution of their armed organisations following the signing of a Memorandum of Settlement with the Central and the state governments on March 15.
The groups comprising the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), United Kuki Defence Army (UKDA), and Kuki Liberation Army (KLA/KLO), said all affiliated units have been disbanded with effect from March 23.
In a joint statement, the organisations described the agreement as a "historic milestone" marking a transition from conflict to cooperation and signalling a new phase of reconciliation and political engagement in the region.
