Guwahati, July 13 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated places in Guwahati and adjoining areas over the next two to three days.

The forecast follows the IMD's heavy rainfall warning issued on July 10. According to the weather department, Guwahati and nearby areas are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall of 6-12 cm in 24 hours, along with thunderstorms and lightning.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said the weather conditions could lead to waterlogging, flooding, flash floods, slow vehicular movement and an increased risk of landslides in vulnerable areas.
