Guwahati: Air India will launch direct flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from August 4, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday.

In a post on X, Sarma said the new non-stop services would strengthen Assam's international connectivity and further establish Guwahati as a regional travel hub.

With the addition of the two UAE destinations, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) will have direct links to four countries - the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore and Bhutan.

Sarma said the state government is also working to establish direct air connectivity with Vietnam.
