Assam: Guwahati's groundwater status turns semi-critical, rest of state remains safe
Guwahati, July 16 -- The Assam government on Tuesday told the Legislative Assembly that Guwahati has been placed in the "semi-critical" category for groundwater availability, while all other parts of the state continue to remain in the "safe" category, according to the Central Ground Water Board's Dynamic Ground Water Resources of Assam, 2025 report.
The information was shared during Question Hour on the seventh day of the Budget Session, when ministers also provided updates on groundwater contamination, maternal health programmes, the Orunodoi scheme, budget expenditure and soil conservation.
