Guwahati, April 27 -- A delegation from the Guwahati Press Club met Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota at Janata Bhawan in Dispur on Monday to discuss several long-standing concerns affecting journalists in the city. The meeting, which lasted around 45 minutes, focused on infrastructure, welfare, and safety issues faced by media professionals.
One of the primary demands raised was the lack of a permanent office for the Press Club, despite its decades-long presence. The delegation requested the government to allocate at least 1 bigha 5 lechas of land at a suitable location in Guwahati to enable the construction of a dedicated press club building.
