Guwahati, June 30 -- Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati has recovered and returned an unattended bag containing foreign currency worth more than Rs 10.14 lakh to its owner.

According to the airport, the bag was detected by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) during routine security screening at Terminal 1 on June 26 through the Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS).

Following standard security procedures, the bag was secured and handed over to the airport's Lost and Found team.

The bag contained US$10,720, 175 Chinese yuan, medicines and other personal belongings.

Airport officials said the passenger's identity was established using the name written on the bag and medicine strips.
