Guwahati, July 29 -- The Assam government has informed the Legislative Assembly that 82,751.86 hectares of the state's land remain under the occupation of four neighbouring states.

Responding in writing to a question from Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday, Border Protection and Development Minister Atul Bora said the occupied land is spread across Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram.

Among them, Nagaland accounts for the largest share, with 59,490.21 hectares of Assam's land under its occupation. Arunachal Pradesh occupies 16,144.01 hectares, followed by Mizoram with 3,675.78 hectares and Meghalaya with 3,441.86 hectares.
