Assam: GMC urges residents, businesses, institutions to use light purple in Guwahati beautification drive
Guwahati, Aug. 19 -- The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has appealed to residents, businesses, educational institutions and other organisations to use light purple in decorating their premises as part of a city beautification initiative inspired by kopou phool, Assam's State flower.
GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania urged owners and residents of shops, commercial establishments, hotels, restaurants, private offices, markets, city bus stands and other premises to voluntarily paint or decorate the front portions of their properties in light purple.
The civic body also urged citizens to use the colour on boundary walls, entrances, signboards, footpaths, open spaces, roadside flower pots, green areas and parks.
