Guwahati: Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Guwahati, has received approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI) to launch a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme from the academic session 2026-27.

The approval was granted on June 5, 2026.

The university said the recognition follows its earlier approval by the BCI in 2025 and efforts to strengthen academic infrastructure, regulatory compliance and the functioning of its Centre for Legal Studies.

The Centre for Legal Studies at GCU, established in 2024, will offer the programme in line with BCI guidelines.
