Assam: Gaurav Gogoi questions Centre, state over underutilised disaster funds amid floods
Guwahati, Aug. 17 -- Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has questioned the Centre and Assam government over the utilisation of disaster management funds, citing figures from a recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.
In a post on X on August 16, Gogoi alleged that Assam has repeatedly struggled to utilise funds meant for disaster response and claimed that the CAG's latest findings indicate similar concerns at the national level.
According to figures cited by the Congress leader, the Union government approved Rs 11,474 crore under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) during 2024-25. However, only Rs 5,356 crore was released to states, leaving Rs 6,118 crore unused.
