Guwahati, Aug. 13 -- Gauhati University on Wednesday welcomed its new batch of postgraduate students at a Central Orientation Programme held to familiarise them with the university's academic environment and responsibilities.

Vice-Chancellor Nani Gopal Mahanta urged the students to look beyond marks and develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, practical knowledge and creativity.

"Marks are important in the present times, but it is the ability to think, solve problems, apply practical knowledge and uphold values that ultimately shapes a student's future," Mahanta said.
