Guwahati, July 9 -- Gauhati University has clarified that the construction project at its Guest House is intended to expand common facilities for visitors associated with the university.

According to the university, the Guest House is used by members of selection committees, external examiners, visiting faculty, resource persons, alumni, parents, students, delegates and guests attending academic, administrative and cultural programmes.

The university said the existing dining hall has become insufficient due to the increase in academic and administrative activities. It also stated that the Guest House kitchen, store and staff accommodation require renovation.
