Guwahati, Aug. 8 -- Heavy rain triggered landslides at five spots in the Burhapahar area of Kaliabor in Assam's Nagaon district on Saturday morning, affecting traffic along a major national highway.

Continuous rainfall caused mud and rocks to fall onto the highway at several points. The debris partially blocked the road and made it difficult for vehicles to pass through the affected stretch.

Personnel from the National Highways Authority and the Public Works Department reached the site and started clearing the debris.

Workers and machinery were deployed to remove the debris and restore traffic movement.
